Master
Bill Pottle (5th Dan)
Master Bill Pottle began training
at the Korean Academy of Taekwondo in 1992 under Master
Ghassan and Grandmaster J.K. Chung, and martial arts have
been a major focus of his life ever since. In high school,
he was the head instructor at the Aurora YMCA Taekwondo
program.
In 1997 he graduated from Overland
High School near the top of his class and from 1997 until
2002 he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where
he earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in Biological
Engineering. He was an integral part of the Sport Taekwondo
at Cornell Club, serving as captain and helping Cornell
to five straight Ivy/Northeast League championship titles.
In 2001 he was elected captain of the first Ivy/Northeast
League All Star Team.
From 2002 until 2004 he worked at
the Vector Core facility of the University of Pennsylvania.
There he made adenovirus for use in Gene Therapy and vaccines
against HIV, SARS, and Ebola. He trained with the University
of Pennsylvania Taekwondo team and served on their executive
board. In 2003 and 2004 he was the head instructor of the
Center City Taekwondo program, a free program in collaboration
with Americorps.
Master Bill enjoys reading and writing,
and his first novel, DreamQuest,
was published in 2003. Through all this, Master Bill has
always dreamed of teaching Taekwondo full time and implementing
his ideas to improve the school. In 2004 he dedicated his
life to teaching Taekwondo full time and helping move KAT
to the next level. In 2006, Master Bill earned his 5th Degree
Black Belt.
