Master Bill Pottle (5th Dan)

Master Bill Pottle began training at the Korean Academy of Taekwondo in 1992 under Master Ghassan and Grandmaster J.K. Chung, and martial arts have been a major focus of his life ever since. In high school, he was the head instructor at the Aurora YMCA Taekwondo program.

In 1997 he graduated from Overland High School near the top of his class and from 1997 until 2002 he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in Biological Engineering. He was an integral part of the Sport Taekwondo at Cornell Club, serving as captain and helping Cornell to five straight Ivy/Northeast League championship titles. In 2001 he was elected captain of the first Ivy/Northeast League All Star Team.

From 2002 until 2004 he worked at the Vector Core facility of the University of Pennsylvania. There he made adenovirus for use in Gene Therapy and vaccines against HIV, SARS, and Ebola. He trained with the University of Pennsylvania Taekwondo team and served on their executive board. In 2003 and 2004 he was the head instructor of the Center City Taekwondo program, a free program in collaboration with Americorps.

Master Bill enjoys reading and writing, and his first novel, DreamQuest, was published in 2003. Through all this, Master Bill has always dreamed of teaching Taekwondo full time and implementing his ideas to improve the school. In 2004 he dedicated his life to teaching Taekwondo full time and helping move KAT to the next level. In 2006, Master Bill earned his 5th Degree Black Belt.
