Black Belt Minors

Earning a black belt is a major undertaking, equivalent to a "Major" in a College or University. Being a black belt means that you are competent at all areas of martial practice. Once a black belt, there are many areas that a student could choose to specialize in. Some will choose to become teachers, some will specialize in traditional techniques, some will pursue high level competition, etc.

We have created the following "minor" courses of study that a black belt can achieve. They will recieve a special designation on their belts.

Forms (F) - To earn the forms minor, you must learn at least 10 forms from another set (ie, Chang-ha, Pal Gwe, etc)

Instructing (I) - Pass Instructor Level I test plus assist or run your own KAT satellite program.

Sparring (S) - Win at least 15 goal medals in sparring in at least 20 tournaments, including at least 1 medal (any color) at nationals or any international competition.

Grappling (G) - Win at least 20 matches, including at least 10 by submission.

Refereeing (R) - Become at least D2 (Or equivalent) Certified Referee and referee at at least 5 tournaments.

Weapons (W) - Learn full curriculum for 3 weapons, make your own creative weapons form, win at least 1 gold medal with your weapons form.

Demo (D) - Perform in at least 15 demos, do a 540 and a backflip, or perform at least 25 demos.

Outside (O) - Earn mountain training (2x) Survival Training (level 2) + ???
